Department of Career Counselling

Due to the economic changes in Hungary and Europe, it has never been so important for the citizens to be able to meet the requirements of the labour market and to participate successfully in the area of work. Career counselors play a significant role in this process, supporting employees and job seekers in all of these areas, levels and ways.

The Hungarian counseling training programme grew out of the professional workshop that has been existing for almost three decades, which we call the Gödöllő Career Orientation School. From 1992, the employment counselor training course, and from 2008 the Employment Counselling master's program, take an important role of the dynamism with which the structure of the curricula offers relevant respond to the changing social and economic conditions. In our educational palette, the postgraduate specialist training course in career orientation is treated in a priviledged place, which was first started in 2000 by Dr. Klára Szilágyi at the institute directed by Dr. Pál Völgyesy.

Our employees take on a role in the full-time and correspondence training of consultants, both in Gödöllő and in the capital. Our areas of research include the situation of students with special educational needs or disadvantages and we focus on individual and group training development and adult education too. In our department we prefer interdisciplinary, complex approaches realted to the ectivities of teaching and researching, the development of services related to life long career guidance (LLG) is the main focus of our work.

Our goal is to equip our students with valuable knowledge, based on the traditions of the “Gödöllő School”, with which they can effectively support employees in successfully adapting to socio-economic changes.
